Small Business Website Checklist for India (2026)
· 5 min read · By the AgencyCare team
Many small business websites look fine but bring in almost no enquiries. Usually the problem isn’t the design. It’s missing basics. Use this checklist to review your current site or plan a new one.
1. It loads fast on a phone
Most visitors in India will see your site on a mobile phone, often on a patchy connection. Compress images, avoid heavy sliders and videos above the fold, and test your site on your own phone using mobile data.
2. It says what you do in the first few seconds
Your headline should state what you offer and where, for example “Home interior design in Gurgaon”, not a vague slogan. Visitors decide within seconds whether to stay.
3. Contact is one tap away
- Click-to-call phone number
- WhatsApp chat button
- A short enquiry form (name, phone, requirement)
- Your service area and working hours
4. Each service has its own page
One page per main service helps visitors find what they need and helps Google understand what you offer. A single “Services” list with one line each is rarely enough to rank.
5. Real trust signals
Genuine reviews, photos of your actual work or team, and clear business details build trust. Never use fake reviews or stock photos pretending to be your work. Customers notice, and it damages credibility.
6. SEO basics are in place
- A unique title and description for every page
- One clear heading (H1) per page
- Descriptive image alt text
- An XML sitemap submitted to Google Search Console
7. It’s connected to your Google Business Profile
For local businesses, your Google Business Profile often brings more calls than the website itself. Link the two, keep your business name, address and phone number consistent everywhere, and keep the profile updated.
8. You can measure what it brings in
Set up Google Analytics and Search Console, and track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions. Without this, you’re guessing.
9. It’s secure and you own it
HTTPS should be on every page. Make sure your domain and hosting are registered in your business’s name, not your developer’s.
